DSDuet System

Frequently asked questions

The short version.

What Duet is, how the two tracks work, and what it costs. Anything missing—ask us directly.

The basics

What is Duet System?

Duet is a thinking layer for product work. It gives early ideas somewhere to breathe—then helps you turn the ones that matter into a clear next step, a living spec, or a decision worth sharing. The building still happens in your own tools; Duet makes sure the right thing reaches them.

Is Duet a task manager or a notes app?

Neither, exactly. Most tools demand an answer too early: what is this, who owns it, when is it due? Duet keeps the answer open until the thinking is ready. It owns the space between an idea and the moment it's ready to build.

Who is Duet for?

Founders and small product teams who do the shaping work—deciding what to build and why—before handing off to engineering. If your days move between half-formed thoughts, specs, and decisions, Duet is built for you.

How it works

What is the Idea field?

A single place to capture a thought, tension, or half-formed direction without labels or per-note decisions. Capture happens before classification, so the half-formed thought is protected instead of lost in a meeting note or chat thread.

What happens after I capture an idea?

It arrives in your Build Inbox, where you decide whether it has enough shape to move forward. Triaging is a deliberate translation: make a task, start a spec, park it, or send it back for more thought.

What are the two tracks?

Track 1 (Explore) is where ideas are captured and refined. Track 2 (Commit) is where they become concrete work—tasks, specs, and decisions. The separation keeps raw thinking and committed work from blurring together.

Collaboration

Can I use Duet alone?

Yes. Build is personal by default: your own Inbox, decisions, and next moves. The Free and Pro plans are designed for individual use.

How does the team side work?

Project is where the team keeps the shared product narrative current—a shared roadmap, a decision log with reasoning attached, and a review queue for proposals that need the group. Not every raw thought gets published, only the ones that matter.

Pricing & access

How much does it cost?

Personal is free while in early access. Pro is $20/month (or $200/year) for unlimited projects and personal project memory. Team is $250/month for up to 10 people with shared roadmap, wiki, and review queue.

How do I get access?

Join the waitlist from the pricing page or create an account. We open capacity in waves and send an invite when your turn comes. No card is required to start.

Where does my data live?

Your ideas, specs, and decisions are yours. In the live product they're stored in your workspace and exportable. The current prototype runs entirely in your browser against sample data.
